Expert: Russia corporate sensitive data leakage spikes 80% in 2016

MOSCOW, Mar 23 (PRIME) -- The number of registered cases of confidential information leakage in Russia rocketed 80% in 2016 to 213 units, information security provider InfoWatch said on Thursday in a research.

“By the number of leakages registered by the InfoWatch analytical center Russia is between the U.S. and the U.K., where the indicator stayed at the same level as in 2015: 838 and 67 leakages respectively,” the research read.

InfoWatch analyst Sergei Khairuk said the world is entering an epoch of massive data compromising, when the issue is not whether your information will be stolen or not, but when it will be done and how critical the information will be.

“Top management and other privileged users are becoming more often guilty of key leakages, while theft of a single document could put the existence or reasons of existence of a company under threat,” the analyst said.
